Why lubricant?

Lubricants can be used to make penetration smoother (smoother). The blood supply in and around the vagina ensures that fine droplets of fluid leak through the vaginal wall and thus moisten the entire vulva. The amount of fluid varies per woman and can be different per day, but often depends on the age, cycle day or the degree to which a woman is sexually aroused. It is important that a woman is sufficiently moist during sex. If this is not the case, there is a chance that the mucous membrane will be damaged, which can cause irritation or a painful feeling during and after sex. Taking enough time for foreplay can help a woman get enough moisture. In addition, the use of lubricants can also help to ensure that sex goes more smoothly and more pleasantly. Even if you, as a woman, have no problem getting wet, it can be fun and tasty to use lubricant. Lubricants nowadays come in all kinds and flavors. All flavored lubricants can be tasted safely.

Water-based lubricants:
The big advantage of water-based lubricant is that it is relatively cheap, does not or hardly stains and is easy to wash off with water. Water-based lubricant can also be used safely in combination with toys.

Silicone based lubricants:
These variants are often slightly more expensive, but also feel softer and more pleasant. Silicone-based lubricant is not harmful to the skin. The big advantage is that it glides longer and can even be used under water. Disadvantages are that it can stain your clothes and sheets and (often) cannot be used in combination with toys that are also made of silicone.

TIPS:
Some men find having sex with a condom to feel less pleasant or even annoying. If you put a small drop of lubricant in the condom before applying the condom, it often feels more comfortable and can provide more feeling during penetration.

Some women apply silicone-based lubricant to the inside of their thighs when wearing a skirt or dress without tights to prevent irritation from chafing their legs.
